Appreciate Your Struggle

Written by H.M Grove

Struggle; it is the one piece of life every human has in common with each other. Some struggles are far more intense than others, but nonetheless, we all struggle at some point in our life. As these struggles continue to ass-slam us against the pavement, humans chose how to cope with the struggle. The struggle can eat you, the struggle can hurt you, but most importantly, the struggle can build you.

We don’t ask for these struggles, but in a way they are a gift. Enduring hard times will build our armor and prepare us for harder times. I won’t lie; the worst has yet to come. That being said, the best is yet to come, too. Every struggle you face is training for future predicaments.

There will come a point in your life where the world is crumbling beneath your feet, and you will look back at your past struggles and know how to handle it and mentally take the punch. For example, when you work out, your muscles will be sore and you will feel like shit, but that’s just your body building mass and strength.

You need to endure the pain to build the muscle. Appreciate your struggles and use them as fuel for your expedition of life. One of the greatest aspects of struggle is that it will show you when the good times are good. If someone has lived nothing but a perfect life, they will be miserable.

When everything is good, your brain cannot appreciate the good times. You will take everything for granted, and live a miserable existence. Why do you think silver spoon born kids are such assholes? It’s because they’ve never had to really struggle. A struggle to them is a blessing for us poor folks.

Your struggles will reveal what a good time is, and when that good time comes; you will smile and laugh, because you will know how wonderful it feels. I’ve struggled hard in life, no doubt. There’s been times where I thought I wouldn’t make it through, and it felt like brimstone under my feet. I’m thankful I made it through, though.

I emerged from my struggles a brighter man. It was because of my struggles, I could smile. Life feels amazing once you’ve learned to appreciate your struggle, because life is nothing but a struggle sometimes. If you’re struggling, and breaking down, just remember that sunny days await you, and goddamn it’s going to feel incredible!

Use your past struggles and convert it into raging energy. Use this energy to mow down life, and pave your path the way you want it. If you struggled hard, you will have nothing to lose. Use your anger and rage from the struggle push you through life. You are a champion because you struggled like a peasant.

Do this, and after many long days of painful work, unprecedented perseverance, and fueling struggles, you will reach the summit stronger than every before. The day will come where you’ll be sitting right where you worked to be, you will lay back, ponder at the view and look back to those cold days.

A smile will fill your face, because you know what it is like to live without hope, then you will look at your life and be content, because your struggles and work paid off. At that very moment, you will love your struggles. Hell, I’m still working for that, and I sure hope I can feel that one day.

I know I will, because I have struggled hard, and I have emerged from a mountain of dog shit, with my chin up and my armor on. So, maybe one day, I’ll taste the life I desire. When that day comes, I’ll credit my struggles for my sunny days. I hope you all make it out there, because it’s a rough ride.

Stay beautiful humans.
