Grandma’s Boy, One of the Greatest American Comedy Films ever Created

HM Grove

This is not my style of article, but I cannot hold back my divine appreciation for this film. “Grandma’s Boy” is the type of movie that allows you to forget about all of your problems and blesses you with genuine joy and laughter.

Whether it’s the off-brand Mel Gibson starring in the film cracking a corny joke, or JP asking a girl to sit on his face in a robot voice, this movie won’t let up on your funny bone.

If you have not seen this movie, then I suggest you stop reading this and watch the damn film. First, we must check out the characters in the movie.

The main character, Alex, is a game tester working with a handful of interesting people. When his roommate spends all the rent money on Thai prostitutes, Alex is forced out of his house by a very pissed off Rob Schneider, and moves in with his nice old grandma.

Throughout the film, there are petty arguments, a lion running wild throughout the neighborhood, potent weed that turns you into a deer, a young chunky Jonah Hill sucking on boobs, and elderly women getting cross faded while partying with bikers.

How could anyone not love this movie? As an ex-game tester, this film hits me in a special place. Though no testing lab in the world runs as chaotically as Brainasium, there are aspects of the mad workplace that push a warm nostalgia against my face.

As a child who grew up in the early and mid-2000s, the way the characters have fun, get down, and live their lives helps me hop in that time machine to 2006 to laugh my nuts off.

This movie is the “Dazed and Confused” for us 2000s babies. My favorite aspect of this film is how low-stress it really is. Yes, I enjoy watching a stressful movie, but sometimes I just want to kick back and enjoy myself.

“Grandma’s Boy” is the movie for exactly that. For the hour and a half you watch this film, you will forget about everything in your life that could drag you down, and your brain will mainline natural dopamine mixed with healthy nostalgia.

I choose not to spoil too much of this movie, because I want you to feel the warmth of “Grandma’s Boy” at its fullest. Being a corny movie filled with toilet humor and childish jokes, it will sure put a smile on your face.

“Grandma’s Boy” is a masterpiece of its own. There is no movie like it, and it truly brings out the best of anyone who is given the privilege of watching it. With all this being said, please, pack a bowl of whatever garbage pot you find in your sofa cushions, crack a cold Coors (nothing too fancy), smoke some Newport’s, and lounge in your mustard stained bathrobe, because this movie was made just for that.

You don’t need to be neat and clean sometimes. It feels good to get sloppy and drop the stress pinning you down. “Grandma’s Boy” will be there to tell you everything’s going to be okay.
